In terms of research topics related to the economy of solidarity and income redistribution, I propose the following topic: Analysis of economic efficiency and implementation of social goals of social policy instruments used in individual countries as an important element of interventionist, pro-development socio-economic policy. This topic may include an analysis of the effectiveness of the applied minimum guaranteed income programs, financial instruments of social insurance institutions, specific tax systems, etc. applied in the context of a specific level of income stratification of the society, the shopping basket of the average level of income, standards of the financial situation of citizens, the level of inflation, interest rates interest, subsidies from the state finance system for setting up a business, self-employment, the system of social assistance allowances, a specific model of the social market economy, the consideration of social justice within the income redistribution system, the implementation of sustainable development goals, the level of GDP per citizen, the level of debt the state finance system, sector and branch structure and the level of economic development.

I am interested in investigating the social and political consequences of the recent dynamics of global income inequality, during which rising inequality within countries and decreasing inequality between countries have interacted to produce distinct winners and losers.

Some of the potential areas that I have thought about are:

1. The conditions and prospects for global economic solidarity. Whether citizens of Global North be willing to support redistribution to the Global South? How does this differ along lines of class, gender, ethnicity etc.?

2. Can we observe a political cleavage between cosmopolitan upper-middle classes and nationalist lower-middle classes in Western industrial societies?

3. What is the role of the emerging middle classes for welfare state development and political integration in the Global South? Are these new middle classes arbiters of social protection and democracy?

I need more guidance as I am trying to apply for Phd applications, but I have no idea how to go about it.

I would really appreciate your help.

For this research I suggest investigating how goal 10 of the sustainable development goals is implemented in your country in terms of development plan, redistributive economic policies and solidarity economy as a social alternative to the problem of inequalities

Maybe a little bit historical, but I think there is a point in researching if the nowadays cooperatives have their roots in middle age guilds ("gremios") and brotherhoods ("cofradías"), particularly in Spain.

Did you look at Evonomics, Diego?

Not lately, would you recommend any article in particular?

Case studies perhaps? Some big cooperatives in your country and examine for impact on income distribution. Companies with stock options for employees? Compare and contrast two programs and examine for poverty and equity effects?
