Can someone guide me about the input pulse applied in an ultrasonic pulse velocity test in rock or concrete? I need details regarding the range of amplitude and frequency of the applied pulse.
In concrete, the frequency of ultrasonic pulse ranges from 25 kHz to 155 kHz and this depends on the size of specimen being tested. The most commonly used frequency for concrete application is 55 kHz. As well. the wavelength of the wave plays an important role in the propagation of sound waves via specimen. The required conditions for specimen size and wavelength can be found in ASTM C597. The gain, which represents the amplification of the received signal is important, which carries important information with it. The acceptable range of gain is 50-60 for concrete.
