I am working on effect of flow period and curing period on the lime leachability patterns of expansive shale stabilized with Ca(OH)2, CaCl2 and CaCO3 (All Analytical Grade). All three stabilizers exhibited varying degrees of solubility in water. The dosage of these stabilizers was fixed at 4% (by weight of the dry sample) based on soil-pH response and based on wealth of earlier published research. One dimensional fixed ring oedometer tests revealed higher seating load (6.25 kPa) swell values and deformation for CaCl2 (which eventually exhibited highest solubility in water). Even UCS values with CaCl2 were significantly lower compared to Ca(OH)2. Looking to bridge the reason.
