Thank you for your attention. I am using 532 nm laser and getting carbon Raman signal. I am wondering whether those are real signal or the polymer itself degrading to carbon. I am not expecting carbon signal from my material. Can any one add their valuable input? Kind regards

You must describe the composition of your system. Perhaps the system has an oxidant. It oxidizes your polymer.

If the laser power is too high, it certainly might burn your sample - to check that you can go lower with your intensity (or use a laser with the same power but larger wave length) and check if the carbon peak(s) are still there with the same intensity.
It would also be helpful, as mentioned by Yuri Mirgorod, to have more information about your experiment, for example laser power, which kind of polymer are you studying, etc...
