It is indeed a very general term. Note that some AOP processes could have an influence on the inorganic matter (eg. phosphorous,...), but this is very depending on the studied wastewater. Every water matrix (with organic and inorganic compounds) reacts differently on a AOP treatment such as fenton.

Some inorganic compounds are oxidizable by Fenton´s oxidation. If such compounds are present in leachate, Fenton´s oxidation is usefull.

In short the answer is yes. Fenton Process can be used to degrade inorganic materials as well. Fenton's process involves mixing of peroxide and a iron to produce a highly oxidative species (hydroxyl radicals) and these radicals can be used to degrade organics and inorganic in the wastewater.

Reference to the paper below, Fenton's process was used to treat Reverse osmosis concentrate (ROC). ROC contains both organic matters and inorganic matters. The paper shows that the Fentons process is an economical process for degrading recalcitrant wastewater. It also effectively degrades both organic and inorganic matter. (Ie the degradation of Dioxane, THF etc etc was also found to be very effective although not reflected in the paper)

Also when referring to inorganic when talking about any species that can be oxidized then yes this Fenton's process can work.

The main concept for Fenton's process is oxidation and ultimately mineralisation; the oxidation of carbon species to carbon dioxide. Hope this helps. :D Cheers.
