I'm assuming that you want to add the scores on each of the subscales and get one figure that represents learning skills. You will need to show that the subscales and overall scale are all valid and reliable for the purposes of your study.

But can you please tell me if the instrument that is made out of 5 different adapted subscales, what will the "instrument of Learning skills' be referred as? adapted? or self- designed?

I would refer to it as 'adapted', but the more important thing is to explain clearly why you chose those particular subscales, how you adapted them and how you validated the 'adapted' scales.

I have mentioned with an explanation the reasons why I chose the particular subscales to be part of the scale and checked the reliability and validity too in my dissertation but I was not sure how to address the newly assembled scale 'early childhood learning skill scale". It sounds viable. However, all it points out to is the effect of "merging" these sub-scales. Alone, their validity and reliability have been determined, but fusing them together might raise the validity and reliability issues. I would suggest you fortify these in your study.

I dreaded that too Mr. Jocson. But by fusing them together, the pilot testing, validity, and reliability have shown favorable results. what do you suggest? what should an instrument be referred to? that's made up by merging already existing and tested scales??
