Can I calculate the euphotic depth if I have surface PAR and the water column chlorophyll data?

I am looking to calculate the euphotic depth using surface PAR and chlorophyll concentrations. Morel 1988 has mentioned that for case I waters the pigment concentrations (Ctot) and euphotic depth (Ze) can be approximated by Ctot=4910Ze^-1.34. But the equation doesn't mention the PAR values. Will this equation give a correct estimate fof the the eophotic depth without considering the surface PAR, which can be variable?
