I wish to measure phytohormone regulation in plants (chiefly MeSA and MeJA) before and after attack from a variety of pests (insects, viruses, etc). Is there a way to do this non-destructively, thus that I can sample the same plant at multiple timepoints without removing any significant amount of tissue? I had considered analyzing headspace volatiles with GC/MS but am not sure if this will yield accurate results.
