Hello Everyone,

I am working on oxylipin profiling in seaweeds. Oxylipin are oxidized fatty acid derivatives. Fatty acids are converted to fatty acid hydroperoxides by the action of enzyme lipoxygenase (LOX), these hydroperoxides are then converted to their hydroxide derivatives by peroxidase/peroxygenase or non-enzymatically also.

For ex- Linoleic acid----------- 9/13- hydroperoxy linoleic acid (9/13-hydroperoxyoctadecaenoic acid) ----------- 9/13-hydroxyoctadecaenoic acid

I wanted to know, is it correct to propose the specificity or abundance of LOX isoforms (9/13) on the basis of 9/13-hydroxylinoleic acid (in this case) as they are not the immediate products of the LOX action, but the secondary ones. Though, hydroperoxide derivatives are very unstable and immediately converted into their hydroxide counterparts. I would like to know whether is it correct?

Thanks for your attention and help.
