Can Composite vulnerability Index be regressed against its contributing variables to reveal significancy of variables ?

We assessed the vulnerability of Rain-fed farming to biophysical and socio-economic indicators and generated Composite Index. Now, how to relate the Index back to the indicators to effect communication to others, is the issue.
