Not really. The days I was engrossed in the execution of an artwork, most times I begin with a concept but as I progress with the work, the theme changes. Lately, I have decided to leave themes for works of art to the different perspectives of viewers, at least to rid off self-censorship

This would depend on the socio-political context of the production and reception of the piece of art. Or said in different words, the question would concern the presence of an (internal or external) symbolic pressure on the artist to make this change due to a direct or indirect treat.
If I may, I would recommend you reading Wlater Benjamin's essay "critique of violence" and Jacques Rancière's works on the "politization of art."

I previously read some parts of the book Self-Censorship in Contexts of Conflict by Danial Bar-Tal, but the definition of the concept of self-censorship was a bit controvertible. I thought that changing the title of an artwork by its artist, if we consider it as a sort of self-censorship, can be due to the tendency of artist to adjust his/her relation with the dominant power.

I am not familiar with Bar-Tal's work, but your comment helps me to understand better the epistemological obstacle you might encounter dealing with the concept of self-censorship. This concept is controversial by the simple fact that it mainly refers to a negation of potential of the work of art, said differently, it reprimands or restrict a part of its (political) agency or replace it by another agenda (see Rancière's study of the use of censorship by fascist regimes). If you are interested in the positive effect of changing a title (other than the self-preservation of the artist), then it might be helpful to look for a better concept, which is not marked by such a negative connotation as "self-censorship" is.
