This is probably due to some other factors you did not take precaution on.when vit c + arsenic was administered. or the dosage was not properly calculated or the route of administration?
The answer could be that As was administered as As(V), which is less toxic than As(III). Addition of ascorbic acid has reduced As(V) to As(III) and thus, increased the toxicity of the metal.
I don't think whether you administered AsV or AsIII makes that much of a difference actually, because AsV is reduced rapidly in blood to AsIII. That in turn could depend on how you administered it.
