Yes, I agreed that synthesis of Tpy-Ln complex is very easy... I have synthesized series of them.... there are lots of papers on it... but actually in my case i m synthesizing coordination polymers, where tpy is a part of polymeric chain and i m linking then with each-other to get porous coordination compounds...
Hydrothermal process is the best to produce lanthanide complexes since 4f electrons are deeply seated. At normal condition using methanol-acetonitrile mixture you can also prepare such complexes. See my 1st paper in Research Gate.
