Suggest the solvent to swell the gel and eluting solvent. Is it good enough to remove resinous and gummy materials from oleresins to isolate the compounds?
Mine is not a compound, but oleoresin. It is soluble in hexane, diethyl ether etc. This resin contain triterpenoids. We had isolated some of them by column chromatography.
But all fractions need to purify again and makes life difficult. I was thinking whether to use Sephadex LH-20 lipophilic-
That may work...I'd consider running in hexane as you mentioned, or dichloromethane. No guarantees though....just need to run it on a small column and see if it works.
