I'm trying to ascertain the importance of seaweeds ecosystems for sediment sequestration and storage. Given that coastal high energy environments are rocky and have little net sediment accretion , I need to focus on seaweed depositional zones and assess their relative coverage/biomass on a global scale to their total Distribution. The study is art of a review on the effect of climate change on blue carbon stocks with a focus on seagrass and seaweeds.

Not sure if I've run across many publications on calculating the biomass for embayments and/or estuaries specifically...but I have seen more than a few interesting articles on lakes and lagoons following along a similar line of questioning. The following is provided as an example:

Thanks a lot for that Greg, I am familiar with the seagrass literature from my own research on its longterm dynamics, but its been a steep learning curve for me regards seaweeds, two very contrasting but important coastal macrophytes in how they behave , respond and store living and detrital carbon.
