Our Country needs capacity strengthening in the area of sustainable forest management, of which RIL is an integral part of. We need these trainers to train small/medium/large timber concessionaires in RIL who mostly perform conventional logging practices. This will furthermore support the Suriname REDD+ program. Here at SLU, we are involved in a number of Train the Trainers projects regarding RIL. One of these projects is the Erasmus+ Net4Forest project. They might just be interested in collaboration.
Much of my career was involved in developing BMPs and SWCPs for the National Forests in US. There are also individual State BMP programs and hired BMP Foresters with duties to train contractors and check for BMP compliance on all US lands, federal, state and private. All the National Forests have forest and resource management plans that address sustainability. So there could be many examples to consider, and some areas might have conditions with some similarities to yours. Much of this information is probably available on the internet, but search on Forestry BMPs by State or USFS has National BMPs also that apply to National Forests. Years back, State Foresters had periodic meetings discussing BMP program efforts throughout the Nation, and some were well documented.
Hello, here in Brazil we have the IFT (Instituto de Floresta Tropical), in Belém, Pará State and I recommend the courses by EMBRAPA and FUNTAC (Fundação de Tecnologia do Acre), in Acre State.
They use some procedures from CELOS system, with improvement of GIS tools, called MODEFLORA.
