I have prepared an emulsion mainly consisting mineral oil, cetyl alcohol, stearic acid in oil phase and water, glycerin, triethanolamine, EDTA in the water phase. Kindly suggest me to determine the type of emulsion formed.
You can try adding a drop of water or oil to the emulsion. If the water is miscible, it's an oil-in-water emulsion, and if the oil is miscible, it's a water-in-oil emulsion.
Quick test: I would try adding a little water & oil to the emulsion to see which is miscible. Miscibility of water will indicate of O/W or if oil is then W/O.
