We have practical exeriance with application of interferential current in treatment of incontinece, by men and women.  Aplikation is with ttwo electrodes one suprapubic and other i lumbal region, with electorgimnastic freqventation, 15 minutes.

I retired in December 2012, but before this, I used intravaginal electrodes (Periform - usually - if anatomically appropriate) for electrostimulation for both pelvic floor weakness (if the lady was unable to perform a strong enough pelvic floor contraction for her to work on it) or for an overactive bladder (using different frequencies depending on which problem I was treating). I increased the time and the strength of the stimulation as the patient became more used to it. I also gave other advice, for example, pelvic floor exercises at other times, appropriate for the ability of the patient to contract the pelvic floor, and bladder retraining and dietary/fluids advice for those with an unstable bladder. I advised women to contract the pelvic floor along with the stimulation during some of the time that the unit was being used, if pelvic floor weakness was the problem.

Hello Scott, 

In the Urogynecology practice that I work for we use PTNS (percuraneous tibial nerve stimulation).  We do this for women with overactive bladder and incontinence.  We place a small acupuncture type needle in the ankle area, attach a probe to the needle, and an electrode to the instep of the foot.  The probe and electrode are attached to a small stimulator.  We increase the intensity of the stimulator until we see the big toe move and the patient feels stimulation in her foot.  Many of the women are 75%-90% better.  If this is something you're interested in let me know and I can lead you in the right direction for additional information.
