I have an unknown compound with two types of trisubstituted benzene ring. One of which is methyl protocatechuate. The other ring system has a carbonyl substituent and two O-linked substituents (C NMR shift ~150 ppm). MS base peak at 475 amu and peaks at 491 and 675 amu. Please find attached the NMR and MS data. I think it was a mixture of methyl protocatechuate (main) and 4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzoic acid (minor).
The H NMR was taken in acetone-d6 at 600 MHz (reference peak at 2.05 ppm). The intense peaks at 3.80 and 3.76 are methoxy protons. The CNMR was taken in acetone-d6 as well at 150 MHz. The details of the other spectra are indicated on their respective titles. As for the MS spectra, the first page is an EI-MS, while the next two pages are that of MALDI-TOF MS using dihydroxybenzoic acid as matrix.
