If you could confirm that the pelvic fin rays are 7 (rarely 6-8), the spinules on the body scales are lanceolate (not needle-like), a rudimentary chin barbel (chin barbel not well developed), and the gill rakers on the first arch 16-19, then the identification as Coryphaenoides subserrulatus is correct.

You must check the features that have been noted by Ronald Fricke and also take into account that there is a very similar species C. macmillani (7 pelvic fin rays and upper pectoral ray equal or smaller than the length of the head) that might appear in some areas with C. subserrulatus.
In this particular case, the specimen was caught at 54°38´S 61°52' W. This matches the recorded distribution of C. subserrulatus, I Will check if it is also the same for C. macmillani. Thanks for your answer!
Thanks for the info. C. mcmillani is not mentioned in that area. But I would check just in case.
I 've noticed that I misspelled the number of pelvic rays . C. mcmillani have 8-9 rays in the pelvic fin.
