What is your purpose for growing plant viruses in culture? Is it for assays? If you want to produce more virus (increase inoculum) for producing antibodies or for virus characterization studies, you can usually inoculate specific plant species (live plants such as certain tobacco varieties etc., depending on the virus) that are known to produce high titers of the particular virus of interest, and then purify the virus in greater quantities and more efficiently from inoculated plant tissue than from plant tissue culture.
