Dear All, I want to know why 10% cementitious material content is added with fly ash concrete mix design as per IS 10262:2009?
The concept of cement efficiency factor (ICJ Jan 2015) and Smith's method may be useful.
Generally speaking fly ash will increased water demand and overalls mix will be stiff and sticky, depending on the quality of fly ash and amount of impurities present its may also affect the admixtures response. Regards Richard Kumar
it depend upon the impurities and quality of flyash. generally we increase 10 percent cementitious material to meet the requirement. please follow the link for more detail

The reason for this is based on the principles of equivalent concrete performance and the concept of cement efficiency factor .I have attached and extract from the EN206:2013 (E) specification which may assist you.
