I would like to know whether I can add AI as the second author of my research paper.
AI has helped in generating the noval idea and also implemented the research and got new results. Hence, I would like to give credit to AI and add it as the second author.
Well, but how would this be done realistically? In any country, does a chatbot created by a certain technology company equipped with generative AI technology already have a consciousness, is a kind of autonomous self-improving general, strong AI, and has already obtained legal personality, obtained the same civil rights as a human being? If not, on what basis could this created tool be added as a co-author of a scientific publication? And besides, shouldn't this possibility be asked of the technology company that created the tool available on the Internet, which is a chatbot equipped with generative artificial intelligence technology, trained to perform specific data processing tasks based on programmed algorithms, trained conversational abilities, text processing, etc. on the basis of collected, obtained from selected websites of knowledge bases, texts of publications, articles, monographs, etc. available on industry websites, scientific journals, scientific text indexing databases and others. And besides, the aforementioned chatbots equipped with generative artificial intelligence technology often, in the execution of specific learned tasks, do not show all data sources, the sources shown are not elaborated in the form of full footnotes, and sometimes create fictitious sources, provide in their "works" fragments of other source texts generating plagiarism. In addition, they often get it wrong, create nicely described supposed facts that never happened, that is, they generate "fictitious facts", hallucinations, etc. With all due respect, who would want to add as a co-author for their publication a tool that has no legal personality, is not a person, has no awareness, is often wrong, generates plagiarism, etc.? Given the issue of plagiarism generation by these tools, there are serious ethical issues associated with their use in the creation of any professional texts, including scientific texts, and the risk of a lawsuit from an aggrieved party whose work creations, once posted online, may be used by the said AI-equipped chatbot tools in a way that violates basic copyright laws.
