I have calculated a direct band gap of 3.44 eV and an indirect band gap of 3.35 eV for a particular 2D material of a binary compound using HSE06 functional. This arrangement is stable and has no imaginary phonon frequency.

Considering that the accuracy of the calculations for several reference systems was +/-0.05 eV, this means that the material could have nearly identical indirect and direct band gap.

Is this possible? Has this been observed in any other system?

In fact the CBM at and between K and M point is unusually flat (difference of less than 0.1 eV in the whole interval). How can this be explained?
