I'm working on my master thesis which is about biodegradation of a pollutant in aquatic phase, in this case I need to transfer inoculumn from one subculture to another one. My question is that can the inoculumn be contaminated in this process ?

- @ Sajjad, there is a chance of contamination if you are not properly cleaned your centrifugation tubes. Therefore, please disinfect or clean regularly after the centrifugation process of each subculture and lubricate O-rings and rotor threads weekly.

Dear Sajjad,
It is necessary to sterillize (at 121 °C for 20 min in autocalve) the centrifuge tubes before transferring the subculture.

Yes, there is chance of contamination while centrifuging. The best way to avoid contamination is before centrifuging you should autoclave everything except for microbes.
