I want to receive data sending by VLC using android app for smartphone.
The idea based on the camera can return a certain brightness level, which I can use to determine the amount of light in frame surrounding the phone.
So, what steps must be done to make image processing in frames and extract the required information?
Calculate the sum of R+G+B for all pixels divided by 3 then by the total number of pixels
S=0;
For (i = 0 to n-1){
S=S + Ri+Gi+Bi
}
Level = S/(3*n)
This will give a level value between 0 (dark) and 255 (bright)

Convert image to grayscale using cvtColor. You will get a matrix of values between 0 to 255. Get the average over the values of this matrix.
