I am quite new to this area and I want to do bone remodeling in Abaqus for knee joint. I was told to use Python scripting, but apparently using subroutine is more common for bone remodeling. The thing is, I don’t know if I should develop the Python script (less complex method) or subroutine from scratch, or I can find them somewhere. I’m wondering, can anyone advise me how to provide them?
No one has replied to this question, so I decided to share my findings with others who may have the same question. My perception is, to do a decent bone remodeling with Abaqus, a subroutine developed in Fortran should be used. Mainly, there are two approaches to do it; adaptive bone remodeling, the older and more common technique, and bone remodeling based on cell activities, which is newer and more complicated. The problem is I have not seen any publicly available code for bone remodeling, so largely you have to develop this user material subroutine yourself.
