BMDC culture container, reason?

I am currently trying to culture BMDC.

Some people use petri dishes and some people use culture dishes. I would like to know in detail the reasons, advantages and disadvantages of using these two different containers for cultivation. Thanks.

What could be some reasons why unstimulated monocytes are getting activated?
