What software do you recommend for a study that measures Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA) data as well as seeks to test the impact of different Ecological Momentary Interventions (EMIs)? Ideally on low budget. Thanks in advance!
One of the first places I would check would be the society for ambulatory assessment. They have a list of both hardware and software that is sometimes used. They also have post a lot of paper that have used different methods for EMA. Check it out, http://www.saa2009.org/?page_id=57. I also recently heard that google has made their EMA platform free, but I cant think of the name right now
I use a program called ReTAIN, but its not the cheapest. However, because its run by a smaller group of people, so you get a lot more direct service with set up and analysis. Good luck
Thanks! Finding an EMA problem is straightforward, but not every software has the EMI feature that allows links to audio/video recorded interventions. Could you send me the link for ReTAIN? what are approximate costs? Thanks again!!
I founded the company Expimetrics (www.expimetrics.com) which has more than 1,300 researchers on the platform. You can easily implement EMIs on Expimetrics as we have key features that are helpful:
1. Ensuring time zone matching for participants
2. Enabling personalization of timings for participants (for lessons/activities/assessments)
3. Participant log to track response rates and message participants
4. Participants can view charts of their (formative) assessments (if enabled)
5. You can capture multimedia and location data
6. GDPR enabled
We are also partnering with several key organizations and institutions on EMIs too and building out more features.
I'm in the same boat so I figured I'd contact you to see what route you took and how it is going. Can you give us an update? Mind if I send you a email? Thanks!!
I've been toying with SEMA3, a university of Melbourne initiative though I'm also exploring using RedCap as described in this paper: https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/pdf/10.1080/00952990.2018.1437445?casa_token=stOtcemQolEAAAAA:SNjShL8UrQSWeGm_n3GOOAVVK_DjuTh4dwUlQg6sN69l84x5XXOfN4ipvMvajk6HfBif2wXhhMNZM3tT
We have rebranded to ExpiWell (www.expiwell.com) which has more than 2,100 researchers on the platform. You can easily implement EMA/EMIs on ExpiWell as we have key features that are helpful:
1. Ensuring time zone matching for participants (e.g., 8am is 8am regardless of timezone)
2. Enabling personalization of timings for participants (for lessons/activities/assessments)
3. Participant log to track response rates and message low response rate participants
4. Participants can view charts of their (formative) assessments (if enabled)
5. You can capture multimedia and location data
6. GDPR enabled
7. Payments can be made through the ExpiWell system
We are also partnering with several key organizations and institutions on EMAs/EMIs too and building out more features.
