Sir we have not yet done concrete validation the factors responsible for mass decline of tree bean in entire NE regions but we hypothesis that it is mainly due to biotic factor i.e. insect vector-pathogen and host interaction as a preliminary studies has carried out at ICAR RC NEHR, Mizoram centre and confirmation by molecular approaches are yet to be done. Considered it is a very interesting question.
We need collaborative project including many Institutions to find out other factors contributing to the cause. It is really great concerned for all the stakeholders when farmers are in dilemma. Scientists/experts from different disciplines advised the farmers in their own way. But it does not solve the real problem.
Yes, age of the the plant is a factor ,of course. But the complexity of the problem is that in new plantation area also wilting like symptoms are observed which causes mass death of plants.
