Actually I'm finishing my introduction to the Special Issue of AI & Society called Cybernetics in Latinamerica. Contexts, Developments, Perceptions and Impacts. In writing the introduction for that special issue, two questions emerged:
VSM model was used by several governments in the latin America region, but I have never found out if the VSM has been used by Japanese, Chinese, Canadian, United States or and European governments. Is that true? Can someone help me with that question or give a critical opinion about it.
Hi, as far as I know, Beer did later advise private companies - not governments, indeed - and had some minor impact on managment theories (Malik, University of St. Gallen). See for example: https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2014/10/13/planning-machine But: via Fernando Flores, one could say that the idea somewhat travelled to the US Silicon Valley (but here, it is difficult to distinguish between fact and fiction). Thanks Barbara Diebner (2012) has a critical view on Flore's work done in the US, I had studied it and I agree the cyberneticans have made work only consulting works to different entities of the state sector, as far I had research.
