Scepticism is inherent to an active mind and a necessary feature of any healthy society. In its absence one encounters slavish adherence to authority figures whether they be secular, religious, or a combination of both.
A sceptic always says, "I don't know". It is not the ignorance of the person but the disposition of the person where the ambiance of knowledge is kept open. Scepticism presupposes that the knowledge is evolving and truth is looked at from various angles. One is not confined to his limited knowledge and experience rather gives more space for inclusion and incorporation. It is a philosophical stand needed for any society.
