The Vaidika Dharma (there was no such thing as 'Hindu' in those days) had long ago been negated by Puranic Dharma. What remains is the sublation of it. Any attempt to revive it is a mere waste of time and energy..
Ramakrishna Bhattacharya appears to have no knowledge of the term Vaidika Dharma. He is confusing it for 'puranic dharma' which is considered as half-dharma in Anusthan Vedanta. Swami Vivekananda explained that Puranas are half-truths meant to exemplify a particular social norm at a given time based on the socio-cultural contexts given that time with a little leaning over Vedic pronouncements. He further clarified that if there is a conflict of interpretation between puranic enunciation and upanishadic principles, the latter should override the former one. Upanishads which constitute the last part of each Veda (Veda-anta=End of Veda) are universal and remain valid for all the times to come. He wanted any science such as modern physics or chemistry or nanotechnology to test the Vedic as well as Upanishadic principles of interpretations of human life. 'If any is found wrong or incorrect, let that Upanishad be killed at once as it is least useful to mankind, let alone religion', proclaimed Swamiji.
Purana can never negate Vaidika Dharma. Puranas are auxiliary to Vedic texts. When there comes anything contradictory to Shruti (Veda) in any Puranic text, then it instantly becomes invalid - this is the undoubted norm in Vaidika tradition.
