Hello all,

I want to create an index. Let say i choose 20 stocks randomly. I want to create an index with top 10 stocks based on their market capitalization. When i choose the top 10 companies and look at their weights based on market cap i observe lot of variation. Like say one of the companies (say company A) has very high market cap as compared to the other 9 companies. Based on very high market cap the company A accounts for say 55 % weight of the index and the remaining 9 account for round about 5% each. The index is obviously tilted toward company A and the weights are significantly effected by the single company.

My question is; should I replace the company A with some other company to keep a proper balance in the index?

Thank you so much in advance for reading and providing solutions.
