It included risk factors for VTE specific for ICU patients (such as sedation and vasopressors). table 3
My question, if we are to include these risk factors in a VTE risk assessment score, how many points each should be accounted for?
I would imagine to include all of the factors for the general population as well as for the ICU patient. If these factors are "weighted" into a mathematical model, then it may quantify an actual risk. Some of the factors, I would think, may act as covariates and cross-over.
A cross over trial is necessary prior to giving any scoring system for VTE which includes neuromuscular blockers,Sedation,vasopreesors,corticosteroid .A randomised control trial is required to quantify actual risk.
Requires RCT to analyse the impact of various variables contributing to VTE and add RAS for each.
