There are many studies and articles about the need for perinatal palliative care but I don't find much about caring for the pregnant woman who is diagnosed with a life threatening illness. any one involved i this type of study?

You can look for heterotopic pregnancy and obsevational/expectant management. The number of available studies is low due to the rarity of the condition.

Ahmed gave you a very good answer. I would make it even shorter: what kind of mother's disease you have in mind? There are studies published about life-sustained pregnant until reaching fetal maturity and even organ transplantation in cases where termination of pregnancy would not change maternal prognosis. There are data even about delivery date in a terminally ill mother ruled by court decision in the USA. Also, you have recommendations on FIGO web page. We had a case like that some time ago, thus, if you find it could be helpful, I can provide you some literature about experiences published until 2013. Publications we have consulted consider traumatic brain death in pregnancy, as we had a electrocution victim in first trimester, who was treated in the ICU with both Ethic Committee and family approval, as we tried to achieve fetal viability. Thank you, Radmila. I am interested in women with HIV - in South Africa more than 40% of maternal mortality is due to HIV and AIDS complications. Our women face terrible situations. they don't realise that they are HIV positive so arrive at the antenatal clinics late just to check on baby and book for delivery! only to find they are facing a life threatening illness and life long ARV treatment. That is a lot to work through all in a few weeks ... many don't manage, default and die. So I'm looking for palliative care support for these women.
