This isn't my research expertise; however, it sounds like you are doing a cross between the geriatric emergency room (as implemented by Mt. Sinai hospital in NYC), and an ACE unit (multiple pubs over past decade). I haven't heard of your model implemented in US yet.

As I understand it you will receive elderly patients and conduct assessment, diagnosis and treatment.

I do not know of a service that here in Brazil. We have the ready aid, long-term care facilities and homes where the elderly is during the day and return home at night. The elderly have priority in emergency hospital care and hospitalization, but I know of a service like this you are proposing. Sincerely Yours

Hello. It is a good idea. Indeed, I am not aware of any similar service yet, but I thing it would be interesting to look at AGS, SIOG, or other geriatric society if they have similar tools. Many hospitals in the US are staring short-term observation units, connected to the ER and often staffed primarily by PAs and/or NPs. it seems to be a good approach that is cost-effective and often safer than sending an elderly patient home, especially if they live alone or little social support. Good question that will I am sure yield many published investigations.
