I have a data matrix of 31 taxa and 76 characters that has been analysed in PAUP and intend to view those trees, but to my knowing McClade doesn't run on the latest MAC operating systems.
May be you should try Mesquite. The software analyses currently include phylogenetic analyses based on continuous character. It can be used on both Mac and windows. You can download the software from this site:
Hi there Temim &Thomas and thank you for your replies,
I have tried Mesquite, but l seem to face another issue. When l save my tree files in PAUP, it opens up in MEGA (which l have also downloaded to analyse molecular results). I have even tried to right click the saved PAUP file on my desktop to try opening it in Mesquite but it doesn't seem to recognise it. Do you know how l may resolve this Temim?
Thomas I will give FigTree a go and will see the outcome of that.
Well, Mesquite is currently designed for data files following the NEXUS format. However, it can import and export files of other formats. Thus, you could create your data file with a text editor or word processor if you followed NEXUS conventions. May be, you'll find it easier to use Mesquite's data matrix editors to specify the information in the data file, and let Mesquite handle the formatting issues.
