Melamine foam that is 'Basotect' or similar have excellent water absorption and retention capacities without losing shape. My question is that whether there is any other foam/material having similar properties. Or are there different types of melamine foams from different melamine derivatives?

Attached you find a patent about hydrophilic PU foams, which also exhibit good water absorption (I was co-inventor). But it was made for another purpose (biomedical applications).
