Yes, the World Bank is running a project in collaboration with more than 20 Lebanese universities to study and assess Governance in these institutions. Results are not public yet. Kindly view the governance project in my account.
Transformation in the economy of any nation has a ripple effect at a global level. Thanks to Globalization. But any transformation can lead to such vast a change that trade relations or population migration among nations gets effected drastically. Foreign investor confidence can be shaken up with local strikes or skill set of an IT engineer may become obsolete due to some technological advancement in the Silicon Valley. To bridge this gap and ensure that knowledge sees no geographical boundaries educational institutions have a crucial role to play. The work-force of tomorrow needs to understand global changes, acquire requisite skills and excel at them in no time. Today, we need Global Engineers; Global Managers; Global Professionals. And it surely calls for transformation of our educational system with stress on sharing and utilization of global best practices and innovations. Despite rapid globalization, Indian Education system still faces a number of challenges. Globalization affected our tutoring system by bringing in advancement in information broadcasting and best practices, however failed to free the education methodologies from some of the older frames. Indian Education system has thrust more on imparting Vocational Training with the aid of digitized content. This is nothing but an idea to make the routes wider for Globalization to redefine the academia. In India, students and their abilities are marred due to various situations like unavailability of multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary institutes. The well-off strata choose amongst the top-notch options and the middle level group is left with fewer institutes, which are later screened on different criteria. The need is of a University that can offer the environment, affordable fee, and more importantly a global platform for its students to hone their skills. Coming across a stack of institutes, is continuously reinventing education to stay relevant to stakeholders through innovations in experiential learning
Thanks Hussin and Premnath. The World Bank project looks interesting. See any other countries involved? Presumably, the data and evidence set will be made available for cross border studies.
Prembath's arguments are certainly relevant fir transforming governance practices in educational institutions.I have some evidence of e-governance in practice in board meetings.
