The products of scientific research have become consomation products. Thus, publishing houses can deprive Third World researchers from poor countries of the basic means of work. Are they entitled to that?
The fact that publishers can treat articles as products for sale emanates from the information needs of scientists that do not follow the regular market rules of supply and demand. Often a library must subscribe to a very expensive journal, even if only one professor uses it. This narrow definition of use enables publishers to relate to science paper as goods for sale.
I think nobody works for free! So, in my opinion it is normal that Publishers print papers for sale.
In fact we must consider that the whole publishing process of a given research paper, is quite expensive and this is particularly true when hard copies are produced.
The business models for scientific publisher, can be different. For example Elsevier, one of the biggest in the world, has two models, have a look on this link: https://www.elsevier.com/about/policies/pricing
What is interesting is that in the case of open access model, in which author pays the fees, authors from countries eligible for the https://www.research4life.org/eligibility/ have the possibility for a free access or
low-cost access depending on the countries areas and territories.
That's the question. These publishers practice a pure capitalist policy to deprive the Third World researchers of poor or impoverished countries by strtegies of the means of work. The United Nations must think about establishing human laws that guarantee the right to research activity in countries that have been impoverished by decades of poverty-making politics. It should be among the fundamental laws to human scientific development.
Researchers in the Third World and around the world must have the right to use Biliography and scientific scholarships to carry out their scientific research work. International Human Law (UN) should guarantee this right. Hate at the sickly profiling of the commercial journals of Paid Publications. Hate to the decay of the quality of scientific production. Hate to the capitalization of the scientific research. Let's fight for a Fair, Solidary, Human and Radiant Future for everyone on Earth. Let's not hide the political reality of the world. The powers that govern the World support the despots of the Third World to expolite and overexploit the so-called underdeveloped countries or in the voice of development. It is not forbidden to dream of a better future for human beings on Earth. So let's go back ...
