nick , I am afraid I am quite cynical about the current trend and praxis of education replete with superficiality, bias, greed, corruption and what not , enormous heroic effort s are needed to foster critical thinking, and other higher order cognitive competencies,
bitterly ironically , students are disenfranchised disempowered and manipulated into mainstream sociopolitical agendas, they have to toe the line , jump the bandwagon of shallowness to succeed in their educational endeavor :

Who'D Like To Be A University Student? - Poem by Ali Rahimi
After untold gloomy hours of studies and concentration,
Chained to textbooks, pamphlets and notes,
A zestful arduous academic immersion,
For the tedious sterile matriculation,
Has to spend a fortune, yes, costly registration,
Who’d like to be a university student?
Assigned to the dingy small rooms of a dormitory,
Packed like sardines with other young inmates in misery, in a penitentiary,
Some ten sad souls confined in stinking dungeons, pathetic scenery,
the profundity, creativity and critical attitude of post structuralism may not be harmonious with the egotistic insular attitudes of some policy makers . Poststructuralists like Derrida, Foucault, Gilles Deleuze, and Jean Baudrillard's iconoclastic attitude to philosophy are more often than not misperceived and misdirected and libled as utterly cynical anarchist and nihilistic, hence they erroneously presumably create a sense of melancholic anguish among students.
what's more, some scholars affiliating themselves with poststructural critical existential ideology are themselves indoctrinating binary mutually exclusive categories of US vs Them, black vs white, ,,,
Dear Rahimi, thank you for your comprehensive response - it is this egoistic insular attitude that we must overcome to provide, I think, a 'real education' for our children; one that values the individual, not simply, as you quite rightly illustrated 'the indoctrination of binary mutually exclusive categories.'
