I need to do an environmental quality study to determine the effect of shrimp farms in estuaries with mangroves ( 4 sectors with different proportions betwen shrimp farms and mangroves) . Which criteria or protocole I must to use for to diseminate sampling sites for to collect water, sediments and bentos in every sector.

You can choose three sectors of each estuary (lower, mid, and higher) and in each sector sample one area of ponds (or, one pond) and in the other side of the river to sample the contiguous or more closer preserved mangrove. Overlapping a grid with cells numbered from 0 to 100 over a map of each area of pond or mangrove that you want to survey, and then using an aleatory method for select n patches (best 10) to survey, is a method that can work. If the estuaries have a theoretically uniform distribution of shrimp and there are no deliberately higher densities in particular regions (that is, dependent on the distribution of farms) and the ecosystem also has a considerable degree of uniformity, it could be considered a random design of grids or points.
Distance software, although primarily used for calculation of densities and abundance of species, features random design functionalities for sampling points selection, in which you can even assign weights for sites of interest and systematic sampling in which the points located present a certain degree of preference that your knowledge of the area deems convenient to consider.
