I can share a little about my own experience that I hope would be helpful for you. I mostly attended Catholic schools where the boys and girls schools are separated but in the same vicinity. I liked having the Church very near to the school compound that created a sense of "sacredness" about my school environment that created within me a certain inclination to do what was right (e.g., not to fight and steal from my classmates). I also found that my school climate was also less violent and disruptive. May be things have changed since, but I do feel that learning in a denominational environment helped me to feel safe and focus in achieving the curriculum goals of my formative education.
