Internal validity? What is your central concern?

I mean I don't want to compromise internal validity. If I had to compare the two candidates, it's appropriate that the data source should be the same. Obtaining the data for the two candidates from different sources, for instance, may result in comparing an organic apple with a genetically modified one. This may undermine the internal validity of my data and the results arising from them.
