Stratified brines have been detected or discussed in various hydrothermal environments, particularly on the seafloor, the Salton Sea case, etc., but is anyone aware of the simultaneous occurrence of stratified brines in the epithermal environment?
We have dated by Ar/Ar two veins ~5 km apart that turned out to have essentially the same age. Depth estimations indicate a difference of 800 m between these veins (according to evidence for boiling and fluid inclusion data). So, besides other possibilities, we are thinking about stratified brines. It is an epithermal deposit in Mexico.
