Hello, For my industrial microbiology courses assay, I would like to Ask if anyone knows or have an idea about the the manufacturing procedures of Antimicrobial Discs? how to make them from scratch? The quality control procedure? how to put the discs on the Cartridges?

Hello, You can use ordinary hole puncher to make disks from filter paper. After make antibiotic solution with exact amount or MU and fill certain quantity of disks on it. Than you can dry disks and you will have antimicrobial disks. If you need disks with other dimensions you need other tools which also available.
Although most disks are made reported to be made from Whatman no.1 filter paper, the standard Whatman filter paper is no.3. Paper quality, in terms of ability to absorb which is a function of paper make and thickness greatly affect the results of susceptibility testing. Disk diameter is reported mostly as 6 mm but 4-6 mm will do just fine. Disks are sterilized by hot air oven. It is better to sterilize disks in the containers they will be stored rather than attempt aseptic transfers post-sterilization. Standard antibiotics or other antimicrobial agents are preferred to those sold over the counter. You may go over these documents and many others for clarity.
