Plato, being an idealist, was disappointed at the performance of direct democracy. Obviously, not every citizen could match high standards like more learned and profound thinkers like Socrates or Plato himself. He was correct there to claim that decisions by commons were common. He was in favour of philosopher King and highly learned Gaurdian Class to rule the state.
