Many thanks for your question. I am glad to introduce the topic, the way I see it.
By Agile Management, we refer to a collection of principles that, at the most general level, aim to 1. Enhance team communication, 2. Increase the efficiency of production processes, and 3. Align these processes with value creation. In contrast to Waterfall Management (classic management with work-packages and long-term goals), Agile Management focuses in creating a product in small increments (usually every month) which include cycles of planning, reviewing, and adding a new feature to the final product. This helps to cope with the level of ambiguity involved while defining the product at first. Which in knowledge work, like ours, is quite high.
The idea is that by making shorter cycles of planning and reviewing our work, we get to know WHAT the problem really is, and WHAT is the value of solving this for our stakeholders. This with the help of stakeholders and the project sponsors/client.
If we replace the words "features" for "master-thesis sized project" , "Clients" for "Principal investigators", "production" for "research", "product" for "research finding", and "stakeholders" for "society", I have found a version of what Agile Management for Research is/could be.

By looking at the explanations you offered, I can recognise doing some of these without actually knowing A.M. or having heard of it. I would certainly consider formalising some of these approaches as part of my activities.
