Hi,

In scientific writing many people tend to use passive voice. On, other hand, many readers believe that active voice is clearer than passive voice.

In thesis writing, the author is considered one person which is the student. So, using 'I' will not suit because it is informal. Further, using 'we' may not be applicable to one document author. people who prefere passive voice claim that the focus is the result not the scientist.

What could be the best practice for scientific thesis writing? How to deal with the issue of using 'I' or 'we'.Will a combination of both active and passive voice acceptable?

Thanks
